About Cascade Designs |
Cascade Designs started over 35 years ago with the simple intention of giving you a more comfortable night outdoors. Now, they're the parent company of some of the most trusted outdoor gear brands: MSR, Platypus, SealLine, Therm-a-Rest, and Tracks. It all started for Cascade Designs when they accidentally invented the Therm-a-Rest sleeping pad. Ok, maybe not accidentally, but the idea came to Jim Lea while he was gardening. These guys made a prototype of the world's first self-inflating sleeping pad, and well the rest is kind of history. Like I mentioned in the paragraph above this one, Therm-a-Rest mattresses were the first addition to the Cascade Designs family. Now, Therm-a-Rest is making more than just sleeping pads. Check out their super comfy, lightweight camp chairs for sitting around the fire. Therm-a-Rest sleeping bags and pillows work seamlessly with their sleeping pads to create a cozy sleep system for backpacking and camping. Next up on the docket is MSR. MSR cookware and stoves ensure you'll eat as well as you sleep on your trip. Check out cookware like MSR pots and pans, dishes, cups, and utensils. They've also got some fancy things for filtering and storing water. MSR tents, like the venerable Hubba Hubba Tent, are lightweight and durable. With all this MSR gear, you'll basically have your own city. Platypus water filters and water storage are pretty much the cream of the water crop. I wish we had water crops. Time to harvest the water. Anyway. Check out Platypus backpacks and hydration packs, water bladders, and water filters. Finally for your paddling trip, there's tons of waterproof, minimalist gear from SealLine. Waterproof dry bags and dry stuff sacks are a must for any canoe and kayak trip where you don't want to go to bed in a soggy sleeping bag. When SealLine says waterproof, they really, really mean it. Even SealLine messenger bags and SealLine backpacks are waterproof. Plus all the SealLine gear comes in fancy colors. So, there's that. |
