It lofts well, compacts decently small, and weighing in at just under 2.5 pounds, the Cosmic Down is still the best bag for the money you're likely to find. Especially if you happen across it on sale. The side zipper goes all the way to the foot box, there's an active draft collar, and the hood as well as the collar cinch closed. I've used it in a hammock, no pad underneath, and it kept me plenty warm on a 40 degree night. Going at all lighter for the same specs as the CD20 will likely cost you at least another $100, probably more. Unless you're going ultralight, or camping in snow, you can't go wrong with this bag.
"Decent bag for the money, but awful Kelty customer service"
04/04/13
For the money, this is solid bag. It is warm, fairly roomy and generally well reviewed. There are two problems that I see though. First, Kelty's customer service is awful. I tried to get my old sleeping bag repaired through the warranty and they wouldn't do it, the product wasn't old enough to qualify for repair. Instead they gave me a 40% off coupon. The coupon didn't work.Second problem (at least form my end) is that you can't mate it with another bag because all Comic Downs are right zip only. Even women's versions.
