"versatile and functional at a great price"

As I often camp / sit on rocky ground - this has become my go to utility pad. When space and room is not an issue, I lay a therm-a-rest self-inflate right on top for extra comfort.
I've lost track of how many good nights I've spent on one of these. Twenty-four of those good nights were on a thru-hike of the Colorado Trail. Here's why I'm a fan of closed-cell foam pads like this:- Cheap- Light- Puncture-proof- Multi-purpose: first aid, glissading, short breaks, frame sheet, extra sun/rain protection while hiking, countless other uses- Customizable- Warmth retention (regular air mattresses don't insulate)
Why spend hundreds of dollars on a sleeping pad if you are ok without your creature comforts for a few days. That is part of the out door experience I think. This guy does the job, it insulates ok, it is more comfortable than sleeping on the ground, it is easily the cheapest kind of pad out there. Besides, unlike some of the more expensive options, it doesnt sound when you move about. Dead silent.Good option if you want to spend your money on a good down bag instead.
