The Exped Down Mat 9 features down insulation that significantly reduces heat loss, which has been proven everywhere from the laboratory to trying expeditions. "Incredible engineering that's worth its weight in down" 11/19/12

If you're an ultralight hiker/camper who weighs every item down to the gram then this isn't for you. If you're someone who camps outdoors in the winter then you probably know that high quality, well-designed items in your pack make the difference between an amazing adventure and a miserable one. I pair this pad with a Western Mountaineering Kodiak bag and I'm good for just about any conditions that I may encounter during the winter here. Just buy it and stop worrying about the price -- it's worth the cost and weight, without question.

"Better than my couch" 05/17/12

This mat was amazing!!! I used it while backpacking in Colorado this past winter and it made our slightly too small tent feel like a palace. I am six feet tall and this was the perfect size for me.

"Very Comfy" 03/26/12

The first one I had was returned because it leaked the first time out. Moosejaw exchanged it with no problems. The second one has held up much betterand is very comfortable. I usually always feel the ground as I am 250lbs but this mat I don't think I was even close to the ground. Worth the investment.

"This is like having an electric blanket with a 60miles extension cord" 02/15/12

This thing is SUPER warm. It's a little on the heavy side for ultralight stuff, but I think it's worth it. When you consider the that the volume it takes up is less than a Big Anges Dual Core and only weighs 2 ounces more, the choice seems easy. Not to mention the comfort, this thing is more comfortable than my bed at home.

"worth every cent" 11/09/11

This pad is outstanding for cold conditions. When I first tried it I realised how much heat that otherwise is lost through conduction. It doesnt matter how warm your sleeping bag is, if you have a bad sleeping pad you will freeze anyway. This thing though, will keep you warm, For warm days I have almost wanted to sleep on the ground instead becuase of the intense heat it seems to produce. For cold conditions this is exactly what you want though.

"Amazing comfort, great for cold." 10/23/11

Ok, so I haven't fully been able to test it in cold conditions but based on everyone else's reviews it will hold up to its rating of -36 F. Worth the weight for only having to use one pad, and actually feels like you're sleeping on an air mattress. Buy this before a -20 bag, because it will prevent conduction saving you more heat than a warm bag saves you heat from convection. Go Exped!

"Since I have it, I want to go camping every weekend! Can't wait for a reason to sleep on it!!" 10/23/11

I slept 10 weeks in the high arctic on this pad. Never rolled off, never had any problems. As long as I am going to the Arctic, this is the first time that I actually sleep through the night. never lost air in all these weeks. The best pad ever happening to me!!!

"It costs a little more but you will thank yourself" 03/13/11

I couldn't decide on what mat to buy, but in the end I bought the Exped 9 down mat pump and I haven't regretted it for a second. It is so comfortable and warm that I was actually able to buy a lighter sleeping bag, saving weight and money. It's thick enough that you can sleep on your side but still packs close to the size of a Nalgene bottle. The integrated pump is great and can pump the mat up quickly even when it is pretty cold outside (I use it for a sitting mat for while snowshoeing).Now I might have to buy another one, because my wife is coming on more trips because of the added comfort of sleeping arrangements, and when she is camping I'm sleeping on the old Thermarest (sigh).
