Can't say enought about this windstopper shell. It's light, windproof, and waterproof. Technically they can't say waterproof, but unless you're in a hurricane, this is keeping you dry. The hood is perfect and can be cinched down to a snug fit. Wrist closures are very secure and chest pockets are in a perfect location if you're wearing a backpack. Can't say enought about this jacket!!!
I put this on in October and take it off in April. I wear it for a daily jacket as well as skiing and other Washington winter adventures. Keeps the wind out and the rain at bay. It has served me well for two winters and it still has a couple more in it. I couldn't be happier with it! The fit is superb even for a tall guy, 6'5" sleeve and torso length are just right. Plenty of features and excellent quality make this a product I will buy again.
I have used this jacket climbing in the European alps and ice and mixed climbing on the uber classic and world famous Ben Nevis in Scotland. This jacket is fantastic, athletic cut, easy to use zip with cold and gloved hand, great hood that easily fits over a helmet and is warm enough with one base layer to beast-it into the mountain and not be hot and sweaty when you get to the climb. I have the road rash red and it is simply the best soft shell jacket I have owned.
Everything about Arc'Teryx products screams QUALITY! If you're hunting for a jacket that'll last longer than you, look no further. I primarily use this as a skiing shell, with a very light baselayer (NE region, so not too cold) underneath. After dozens of days of use, my MX Hoody still looks as good as day 1. I'm 6'/185/atheltic build and the large fits just how I like. I went with the road rash red, which is a little brighter than pictured, but always welcomed to have more visibility on the mountian.
