"Works pretty well in the Cold" 04/09/13

I've used this puppy to melt snow and boil water in the winter above the tree line in Colorado (in the tent). It may take a little while, but it gets the job done as long as you keep the canisters warm. I have had a few issues with the igniter that I never had on the Flash. Always bring a lighter as backup. Buy this stove if you want a compact stove system that can boil water quickly and be hung pretty much anywhere.

"Flimsy" 04/04/13

I know it is pretty light and boils water fast but ...It is just too flimsy. The insulation is insufficient on the cup so you have to be very careful when it is hot. The top lid keeps slipping, that a big problem when you have boiling water in it, and also a problem when you try to package it inside of your backpack. The overall construction does not inspire confidence in long term durability either. I have a lot of light weight gear. This is the only time so far I wished for something more solid, even if it mean two extra ounces.

"Worth the price" 02/07/13

I bought this before a two week backpacking trip and it preformed flawlessly. I thought about going with an alcohol stove, but when you add up the stove canister and fuel they weigh just as much as the jetboil sol. The actual stove section is only 2.5oz, which is about as light as you can get for a stove. I wouldn't spend the extra money on the TI model. This one is light enough. Be ware however that a jet boil boils water extremely fast. There isn't any variation in temperature. If you want to simmer spaghetti noodle for example, this isn't the ideal stove. You can make it work, but it takes some trial and error. Perfect for freeze dried meals and hot drinks.

Fantastic - gives the opportunity for a quick coffee when you stop for only 10 min to enjoy the view - as well as snow melting and dinners. For sticky stuff like rice better use the pot. Hassle-free, quick, and compact.

"Sips fuel, blazing fast, and light weight--what more could you ask for?" 12/28/12

For a long time I shied away from canister stoves because they are bulky, require expensive fuel (relative to alcohol burners), and were way too heavy for the performance they offered. All that changed with the Sol Ti!Simply put, this stove is amazing! It uses so little fuel that a canister seems to last forever, and if you strip off some of the accessories the weight is reasonable for lightweight backpacking where every ounce counts. The aluminium version is probably fine for most people to save a little money, but if you find a good deal or just want the lightest around, then go for the Ti version!

"This is a great stove, worth its weight in gold overseas." 01/14/12

I took a Jetboil Flash to Iraq with me two years ago and loved it. My only complaints were that the lid didn't securely snap on the cup and it was a little bigger than I would have liked. The Sol has addressed both of these issues AND the lid has a built in strainer which makes it much easier to cook pasta out in the wild (which makes you the envy of all the guys who are eating MREs)

"Best way to boil water in the outside" 10/18/11

I have used a Jetboil PCS for years and this was a worthy upgrade. Much Much lighter boils water just as fast. It is also somewhat more compact which always helps. The main reasons I got this were weight and the lower temperature ratings of the new stove. The metal extension for the burner control is also a great addition. If you have a flash not much reason to go for this one. If you don't have a Jetboil or have a PCS then jump right in its great.A final note. Jetboils are for boiling water not slow cooking. if you just want to do dehydrated meals and coffee in the outdoors nothing beats them for stability and reliability.

"Excellent stove for the price, and not much else comes close!" 09/19/11

This is my second Jet Boil (first one got stolen). I used the flash for long backpacking trips but wanted something smaller that I could use for overnight road/mountain-biking trips. The SOL is perfect for this. Self igniter, can boil the same amount of water I need as the FLASH, packs down smaller, same burner, just smaller cooking pot. Don't waste money on titanium one, you don't save enough weight to justify the extra $. I'm an avid cyclist and picky about weight. I ride a Superfly 100 MTB and Douglas Fusion road bike and this stove can be taped or secured to the frame with hook and loop tape (not included). Buy it!
