"Really well made shell that deserves recognition" 04/28/13
So I struggled with finding the perfect light weight shell for my three season romps in the woods. This shell came highly recommended by a number of customers as well as Outdoor Magazine. I ordered this jacket and was not surprised by how well it's made and the attention to detail that Marmot has with its peices of equipment. You can't go wrong with this jacket as long as you are comfortable without the convenience of a Napoleon pocket.
"Pretty sweet rain jacket, and almost infallibly waterproof" 12/20/12
Withstands the rain much better than most, if highly breathable and warm.. My only real complaint with this jacket is that the cuffs don't tighten enough for smaller wrists (so your arms could get wet from drips going down your sleeves). Other than that, I could not be more pleased with this jacket. It packs down very well, looks cool, and is comfortable. The seam sealed pockets are really nice, and the collar is very soft.
"Honey you shrunk my jacket" 05/19/12
I special ordered the XL Tall and was super excited with it fit perfectly. That never happens for me (6'5'' guy that's gotten use to making due on gear fit). Only complaint is that my wife washed / dried (on low heat as recommended) my jacket and it shrunk considerably. So my perfect hit can't even be zipped up. Don't put this jacket in the dryer!
"Fantastic Jacket at a Great Price" 03/06/12
Wonderful breathability and sheds rain like a champ! For $150, its hard to find a jacket that breaths so well and is so water resistant. The fleece lined arm tips and neck are a very nice touch. All the pocket zippers are waterproof but the extra pocket near the shoulder seems a little unnecessary to me as it is small and reduces mobility when anything is in the pocket. Other than that, this is a wonderful shell that was well worth the purchase!
"Great for lightweight 3 season hiking." 02/06/12
I've owned this jacket for over 2 years now. I have taken it everywhere in 3 season weather conditions. Canyoneering in the Zion Narrows, crampon hiking in the mountains of SoCal, and raining all over.It put up against quite a bit! I took it along with me in winter conditions, but required a base and mid layer to be warm at night. I recommend this with a long sleeve base layer, as the sleeves can get a little clammy feeling without. The DriCime lining is unbelieveably comfortable, and the hood stows in a convenient way. The pitzips are very convenient. I feel the ventilation is great, with the exception of the forearms which tended to pick up moisture. Otherwise, I love this jacket!
"Solid Shell for the price" 01/11/12
I have used it on multiple backpacking trips throughout the Adirondacks, Dolly Sods and on numerous climbing trips. Fits well and will keep you entirely dry even when hiking through pouring rain. The fleece lining on the cuffs and neck are comfortable but do get annoying once wet. Fairly breathable but I prefer hiking in just a T shirt and changing to dry clothes when reaching camp. If you like to hike in your rain gear you may want to consider one of the ultra light options as in my experience in summer hikes in the rain this jacket is too warm, even with just a t-shirt underneath. Still very compactible, light weight, completely waterproof and a good buy for the price.
"Good, with a few issues" 05/30/11
nice fit, i have a medium and im 6 ft 173 with a long torso. can get that wet but not actually wet feeling after being in a downpour for more than half an hour or so... but you wont actually get wet so if you have a baselayer on, you wont really notice. one issue however is that the soft fleece on the wrist used to make it more comfortable also absorbs water and will soak your wrists/whatever you have covering your wrists, thats only a problem if youre gonna be hour for hours at a time in consistent rain. probably needs nikiwax dwr at least once a year.... some issues, but itll keep you dry and looks nice. very compressible, room to layer.
