"A great baselayer or top, nice for around town and the more adventurous" 05/02/13
I have multiple capilene half zips that wear to work as well hiking. There's lot of different weights of capilene, so check out a couple versions. I like the lighter capilenes (1 or 2) for casual wear as they lay a little closer to the body. I one half zip that's over 3 years old that I still wear weekly. The patagonia logo has rubbed off, but otherwise it still looks new.
"Amazing mid layer" 02/17/13
Wore this the other day over a capeline base layer and under a solar wind jacket (both Patagonia) and it was great. The 3 combined kept me completely warm without a bit of wind getting through. 20 F and I was warm and toasty, actually almost too warm (which isn't a bad thing). Like all of my other capeline products, I'm going to wash this one by hand as well, then put it in the dryer on very low, just to keep on the safe side. After just a few uses I can say that if you get this shirt you'll be happy that you did.
"It's Like Bringing Sexy Back with a Zip-Up Coller" 01/26/13
I've a got a new favorite shirt....These shirts are soooo comfortable....and can take a real beating in the watch-a-ma-cheeeen! Besides keeping you dry, they definitely can keep the stink in and not knock out your tent mate....nah mean?A fantastic base layer, or if you want to dress it up for the ladies, wear a button down collar underneath and pair of jeans. jiggin joe
"Best Base layer you can buy" 09/16/12
Patagonia base layers are the best i have found. The Cap2 stuff is perfect for chilly mornings around 40 degrees. I highly recommend the 1/4 zip, I personally wear them by themselves as just a shirt. I will be buying the cap3 shirts to try out this winter. Buy one you'll love it.
"Really versatile base layer" 04/20/12
Very comfortable and lightweight, and the construction seems durable. Wicks moisture away well (though I'm not convinced about the effectiveness of the "Gladiodor odor control"). The zip neck is nice for added temperature control, but the zip can chafe a little against the neck. I'm 5'10" 135 lbs and size S gives me the correct "slim fit".
"Highest awesome/$ ratio in a baselayer" 12/22/11
Can't go wrong with this one. This Cap 2 base works great in all conditions, packs down small, and wicks extremely well. When I get too hot wearing this thing, I unzip the neck all the way to expose my awesome chest and pull the sleeves up. Patagonia has made the newer versions less smelly, and size down if you want a next-to-skin fit of stretchy goodness.
"I wear these daily" 11/26/11
This shirt is not only great for outdoor activities but it's something that I wear almost daily when working outside. I could not survive working outside without this shirt. You can never have to many of these shirts.
"Great, lightweight zip neck" 11/16/11
Patagonia delivers. Bought it for my husband - I have the women's version. The cap 2 is a perfect lightweight, wicking material for multiple activities. Nice baselayer in cooler temps, cap 3 is almost too heavy. As a stand alone shirt it serves many purposes. Prefer the zip neck over the crew neck for ventilation purposes & for sun protection on the front/back of neck plus a little extra warmth when zipped up, it's great. If you need a short sleeve shirt, just push the sleeves up! We never bother with a 2nd short sleeve shirt, just the one Patagonia cap 2 zip neck works best for us. All in all, a nice addition to anyone's quiver of performance clothing.
