"Oh my" 04/17/12

Oh my gosh I am in love. It's only slightly large around the hem, but can be adjusted with the elastic bungie. I'm sure I could wear a small, but I wanted this to fit like a jacket, not a sweater. I don't like form-fitting clothes. If you do, then go with your regular size. The jacket is beautiful and feels great on.

"Perfect mid-layer" 11/03/11

I bought this for my cycling-fiend daughter. We were a little worried that it was neither fish nor foul, neither a real jacket, nor light enough to be an effective mid-layer. She has used it in all sorts of miserable weather, crossing the Brooklyn Bridge and cycling around the boroughs. It's warm, yet breaths well and, in warmer weather, is an excellent outer layer. Great garment from a great company.

"Versatile, durable and warm" 09/26/10

This repels wind and water, keeps me warm, and is very durable. You would never know how much I beat this thing up--it still looks brand new. I have worn it layered on very cold days or alone with a t-shirt on 50-degree days and have not felt cold, which is rare for me. Everyone commented on how well it repelled water during a few light-medium rainstorms too. The fit is tight and clean, so it also looks sharp enough to wear around as a "grownup-hoodie." My only complaint is that I wish I had gotten a different color; I think the red is a little Power Rangery. It does help with visibility, however, which is important for me.

"Perfect for the Northwest" 07/11/10

This top is snuggly and warm on cold days, and fits easily under a shell on especially rainy, windy, and freezing days. The fit is very close without being restrictive (I'm 5'2", 120lbs and have the xs) although the sleeves seem slightly short. Personally, I prefer a little shorter sleeve length so that it fits under a shell without bunching at the wrists. I wear this for wintertime running and hiking and have yet to feel the cold. I live in an extra-windy portion of Washington, and this jacket handles the wind and lighter rains very nicely.

"It's Arcteryx, It's good." 03/12/09

The Hercules Jacket is an awesome jacket. It works extremely well in above freezing temperatures. It is a harder fleece exterior with the softest fleece lining inside and on the collar/hood. Everything about this jacket is great it has good wind and water resistance and looks sweet. The only problem i have is that it is 300 dollars for a jacket that is not good below zero. This jacket is definitely not enough if you are looking for a one layer winter jacket. All in all great product.

"Two layers in one." 11/02/08

This jacket is excellent. The insulating fleece lining warms up the moment you pull it on and the soft-shell outer does a nice job of blocking precipitation and wind (almost entirely, though it won't replace a hard shell). The pockets are reasonably placed and sized, and the interior pockets will keep electronic equipment (camera, phone, camera phone) toasty and safe. The sizes are true but fitted -- size up if you'd like to layer a hoodie underneath. Bulkier than I'd like for packing, like a lofty wool sweater, but you'll be wearing it all the time so you don't need to worry about that. If you want to try a soft shell for the first time, go with this one. It's the best of all worlds.

"I'd rather have one SUPERIOR ArcTeryx item to 10 of anything else!" 09/18/08

Although I have not had an opportunity to wear my ArcTeryx Hercules jacket, I am experienced with ArcTeryx enough to know that this will become my winter "uniform." It is true to size; I'm an XS, the fit is perfect. My opinion is that don't hesitate on this jacket even though it is pricey. It will last forever, which is not always good for a babe! I ordered scarlet which is more of a burgundy red ~ very nice with a wonderful fleece inside. Moosejaw? The best!

"Great looking" 08/28/08

Arc'teryx is always good at make good looking clothing. Color scarlet is the best. You won't expect it for good performance 'cos I guess 99% buyer of this jacket don't care about that

"Buy one now before they are gone!" 10/08/07

I just purchased this jacket and I cannot wait to wear it. It is so soft and plush inside. It is also warm without being bulky. This is your answer to a fleece jacket with wind protection. Nice fit. True to size.
