"All around tremendous quality boots!" 12/24/12
The fit is snug, so a half-size (European measure) is probably a good idea if you'll be wearing thick hiking socks, i.e. Smartwool heavy crews, etc. These boots are gorgeous to behold and are mighty comfortable right from the box, though they are quite stiff to start. I bought my first pair of this model Scarpa over 20 years ago and they served me extremely well, especially in the mountains of Crete and Arcadia. I had that pair re-soled and still have them for kicking about. The quality and ruggedness of that pair of boots led me to make the decision to buy the SL M3 boots and I am glad I did. In fact, I bought two pair! One if for backcountry treks and the second is for city slicking.
"Tough durable like a glove" 12/19/12
These boots mold to your foot like a baseball glove does to your hand (will take time, very stiff to start). The tread is like glue on slate, granite, rooftops and backyard hills. I hike in them, I mow the grass in them, I have beat the every loving crap out of them, and they hold up. just give them a little rub down with some leather conditioner every now and again. I paid over 200$ for these like 7 years ago, and they were worth every penny then and now.
"Great boots for any outdoor activity." 12/15/12
I bought these primarily for hiking, but have ended up wearing them every day while out delivering packages. Pros: Price vs alternatives (If you can get them on sale.)Waterproof/resistance Comfort/Support Traction Cons:They are a tad heavy. But for what they do, I can't really complain. I wish the rubber sole extended further up the toe of the boot. I have scuffed up the toe many times climbing and stairs and what not. All in all, I am happy with the purchase and will be buying these from here on out. They do everything that I wanted them to do and do it at a reasonable price.
"Great boot -- tough, rugged, comfortable." 05/19/12
Heavy. If you're going to be doing a lot of walking up hill, though, prepare for an upper leg workout as the boot restricts complete dorsi/plantarflexion. The first 30 minutes of walking everyday I can definitely tell I'm wearing the boots but my body soon adapts and my feet thank me. The leather gets beaten. Took on rocky terrain and they looked rough After. Not a concern for me. Overall great. Took me from Ga to Pa on the AT and my feet have never felt so good at the end of a day or at the end of an outing.
"Amazing Boot That Takes a Shine" 12/17/11
I was looking for a boot that would work as a backcountry boot and as a frontcountry boot. As a us park ranger i needed a boot that performed and looked good while doing it. This boot foots that bill and then some. The leather takes a great cordovan shine and the vibram just keeps kicking. I'm on my second pair, my first pair has been retired to backcountry as the leather got pretty scuffed after a summer scrambling the badlands but it still takes a shine. In a sentence... Damn these boots are good.
"The best bood I've ever owned" 11/23/11
Comfy, sturdy, and awesome! A great boot for long, romantic walks on the beach or a week long back packing trip through Yellowstone. Make sure you order a half size bigger, as Scarpa's seem to run a bit small.
"good looking warm boots" 10/21/11
this boot feels about 100 times warmer than my roots brand boots. It looks heavy but didn't feel the weight when put them on. The leather is really really thick, again, compare against my roots brand boots. Can't wait to try them out in Canadian winter!
"If you have to do serious, rough trail, hiking that is just short of mountaineering, then buy these!" 10/14/11
The fit is superb as is the stability. Unlike many boots out there, they are not "clunky". I was using Kenetreks before these and although they are good, fairly light weight boots with good traction, they are wide and kind of clunky. These boots are well designed. They give you what you need for hiking- nothing more, nothin less. You will appreciate their simplicity, good construction, and broken-in comfort. Consider this: buy a pair for your hiking/hunting and when you decide that you love them, just buy another pair for casual wear. Problem solved.
"Das Boot!!" 10/02/11
After one to many bad experiences with my Asolo GTX boots (sore feet, blisters on both ends) I decided it was time to cash them in and look for a superior boot. This boot is it. They are heavy and a bit stiff at first, but take the time to break them in and they are extremely comfortable. Even before broke in they were comfortable to hike in, just stiff. The quality appears to be top notch and I like the all leather look. These boots have been great for backpacking, hiking, and around town in winter. I would recommend these boots.
"Not a product review, but a company review" 08/20/09
2 days later and order tracking still says processing.. So i hit the "What does processing mean" link. It's broken. I'm mildly peturbed at Moosejaw on this order because i called a store to get them delivered in-store,and the store claimed this product was on back order and it would be 3 weeks before they will recieve it. The next day I call 877moosejaw and they tell me they have the order in stock and it is shipping.. still waiting.. I ordered a pack from a much lesser company the same day and it is scheduled for arrival today. Would have loved to gotten to try them on at one of the 4 moosejaw stores in my area.
