"Very stiff and indestructible" 12/12/12
I have had these for almost 8 years and they need new soles but that is it. Every situation i have put them in they have performed great. They are very heavy but that also comes with this type of boot.
"Excellent all around boots!" 09/25/11
I work with a bunch of linemen who love this boot and had to have a pair after hearing their rave reviews. They get two or three years per pair working 'em real hard: to the bar, hunting, snowmobiling, in the bucket, on the pole with hooks, in snow and slush, in the hoe, helicopter work, concrete work, working in the ditch, 4-wheeling, etc. They're pretty much bulletproof as far as I can tell from all the reviews and research I've read and reasonably priced. They're stiff but they've been very comfortable right out of the box, well padded and supportive after putting in a good insole. My only complaint is they're a little hot, but that's okay. I highly recommend these.
"Great boot, work well in any condition" 09/11/11
I bought these boot winter of last year. I have worn them on three Mt Washington winter ascents where they kept my feet warm and dry. They are very comfortable. I have also worn them in many caves where they perform well in these very adverse conditions. These boot are so good i use them to climb poles at work which is very hard on your feet these keep me vary comfortable. They do require a small break in period
"Pikes Peak right out of the box!" 08/17/11
I bought these boots and took them up Pikes the next day. I was nervous and thought I was making a huge mistake by wearing them so soon. I did the Y coulier on the NW side of pikes and came down exhausted, but blister free. They held my strap crampons VERY well and kept my feet suprisingly dry and warm. It was cold that day. Very cold. 2 pairs of wool socks and I was good to go. They took a beating that day as well, there were alot of exposed rock bands, as I was climbing late in the season, and they took it in stride! Very stable, very comfortable boot.
"great boot" 03/22/11
i got these on sale a few years ago. i used them to hike all over, did a trip from mineral king to whitney. 90 miles in 8 days. didnt get a single blister in these. kept my feet dry and warm all day. good support. doesnt matter what your walking on, dirt or rock, it all feels the same. i would recomend these boots to my friends, at least the ones who are going to use them, it would be a shame to leve these boots in a closet. get em, wear em, be happy.
"may require a break-in period?" 08/08/10
For me this boot was uncomfortable! Unfortunately, my feet, heels and toes suffered greatly from the first moderate hike I did. I lost two toe nails (eventually) and a nice chunk of skin on my left heel which did not stop bleeding unless heavily bandaged...Few days later, ascending and descending a 12thousand odd peak was just a miserable experience in them. Though, it did keep my feet dry from the snow. I will give them a go on another hike/climb before I totally right them off.
"This is my second review... it seems that we are dealing with inferior materials." 06/03/10
Greetings Campers-Okay let's cut to the chase... I wrote an initial review after first breaking in my Glaciers, and at that point I absolutely LOVED them!!! However; it seems that La Sportiva got a bad batch of materials which were used on my boots. The insides are simply falling apart. The lining of the boot are disintegrating. With my given work schedule (kindergarten teacher) I rarely get to use these... And with maybe 50 miles in them, the back (inside-heel area) has fallen apart and my foot is now rubbing on the plastic inner-heel-cap.Yeah, once they broke in they felt wonderful, but sadly they aren't lasting. And $250 for 50 miles is way out of line!!!
"I would drop the scratch again" 03/09/10
I unboxed these boots, put them on and hiked 20 miles in ADK this past weekend. I gave these a go with no prior break in. These boots performed right out of the gate. I think many people are misinterpreting the stiffness of this boot for inability to break in. Hike was mostly over snow and half of it in a snow shoe, the ride was very comfortable. No hot spots on my feet at all and I almost forgot they were there. The treads caught very quickly on slips. Why only 4 moose antlers? The cuff around the top of the boot murdered my shins by the last day. It's 2 days since I took them off and my shins are still misshapen and painful to the touch. It's manageable, just need to fine tune these bad boys

"Great boot-love it, takes some breaking in." 08/14/09
Love the quality and look of this boot. It did require a break in period for me, which I would consider normal for this type of boot. Very impressed with how the boot went "uphill" and "downhill". Using it as a backpacking boot as well as my mountaineering boot, works well for both. Just climbed Mt. Baker with it and used it for the approach as well as on the glacier. Quickly becoming my favorite boot.
"Awesome... Once they are broken in." 08/05/09
I Love these boots- now. The first 3 days convinced me that I had made an error, but I stuck with it and it really paid off! These boots feel amazing. Light weight; they feel like half of their posted weight. Supportive; on everything from casual back packing to severe climbing they never roll or pinch. And they work great with crampons. And comfortable; I'm not small at 6'3" 225, and I wear these boots at work where I,m on my feet all day, I'm a kindergarten teacher (no kindergarten cop jokes); and my feet never feel tired or abused when I get home, unlike my old Asolo boots. Simply the greatest boots ever. But remember- They have to be broken in, but once they are, paradise!
"Its a rugged boot" 05/06/09
This boot was a little hard to break in, but feels good after you break it in (about 2 weeks). It is totally water proof, which is a plus when you have to cross rivers! These boots can take whatever you throw at them! They also feel good under your feet with a 55 lbs pack on! Over all its a great boot to buy. Well worth the price.
