Mens Fleece Jackets, Mens Winter Jackets, + Mens Rain Jackets

Fleece Jackets

Fleece Men's Jackets

In my humble opinion, the invention of the fleece jacket is the best thing that has happened to men since pants. I mean regular pants, not those old timey knicker things. Check out warm, windblocking fleece jackets from The North Face, Patagonia, Mountain Hardwear, and some more of your favorite outdoor brands that I'm not going to list here. You already know them, anyway: they're your favorite. If you're open to suggestions, take my word for the fact that the Mountain Hardwear Monkey Man Jacket will knock your socks off. The guy who sits next to me loves his. It doesn't make him look like a monkey at all.
Insulated Jackets

Insulated Men's Jackets

When it's super cold outside, an insulated jacket is pretty much the way to go. There are so many different types of men's winter jackets up in this piece, I'll make it short. So, if you're big into skiing or snow fort building, I think a men's insulated ski jacket or a snowboard jacket is going to be your favorite thing ever. If you're more of the uphill than downhill type, check out insulated technical jackets for climbing and cold weather trekking. Climbers in particular are kind of bonkers for the Patagonia Nano Puff Pullover. This go-anywhere technical jacket holds its own as a stand-alone jacket, or under a hardshell as insulation.
Softshell Jackets

Softshell Men's Jackets

There are, at the very least, a million and one different things you can do in and with a softshell jacket. Bird watching comes somewhere in the middle of that list. Anyway, softshell jackets are designed to let you move freely on cooler weather outdoor adventures, and bird watching. Breathable and wind resistant, softshell jackets are great for aerobic activity in harsher conditions. They are also the ultimate paradox, which is pretty awesome. Check out the Men's Arcteryx Gamma LT, for example. This baby blocks wind and sheds moisture like a pro to keep you comfortable and dry.
Water Resistant Jackets

Windproof Men's Jackets

If you're looking to show the wind who's boss, check out these ultra light, breathable jackets. Men's water resistant jackets are designed to stand up to even the most brutal winds and repel moisture to keep you comfortable. Check out the Men's Arcteryx Celeris jacket, for example. This boss wind shell is designed specifically for moving light and fast, and is so light weight, it stows in its own pocket. The magic is in the Durable Water Repellant finish. When applied to this tough as nails wind jacket, DWR makes the Celeris basically bombproof. Not literally bombproof, please don't go near bombs.
Waterproof Jackets

Waterproof Men's Jackets

Even torrential downpours are no match for men's waterproof jackets. These men's rain jackets, like the Patagonia Men's M10 Jacket, can be used as stand-alone rain coats, or over layers in colder wet conditions. There's a road in Detroit called M10, but everyone calls it The Lodge. Whenever I see someone wearing the waterproof Arcteryx Alpha LT, I always think about fishermen. It seems to me that fishermen probably love this jacket, just in case waves splashed over the deck of their fishing boat. Ok, I have no real proof about what fishermen like, but the Alpha LT is a pretty sweet rain coat.
